You’ve got some great seeds on here – so sorry about that bad dirt. The basil and carrots are breaking my heart but I’ll be curious how your peppers come out. I’m just growing some little bells this year and buying the rest from Tonnamakers at the market. I’m not expecting another summer like last year!
And wouldn’t it be fun to have a tomato tasting later this summer? We could all bring different heirloom tomatoes to taste and swap maters for seeds?
I have grown peppers for the last 6 years – I always get the hot peppers but not always sweet peppers. I am hoping the mini’s will produce. I do all my peppers in pots on the stairs up to our 2nd story deck. I think that helps but also have done in the ground with good success. I never plant them outside until the end of May. So I thought I had almost no basil – apparently I have about 35 plants and I just seeded some more. Who knows with the carrots – I will just buy some at the farmer’s market I suppose.
And I would love to do a tomato tasting. I adore tomatoes. They are what started me on growing food. I wanted good tomatoes like the ones I grew up on in the South.
Hi, I was looking on your site from free cycle then noticed the date of your offering had passed, but being the gardening fanatic that I am I had to stay and admire and drool over your plant list, lol…
I just moved to the West Seattle Delridge Area… Got a nifty rooftop garden with my wonderful neighbors over the Delridge Public Library here in the Vivian McClean Building… We are all working together to turn it into our own little oasis in the city.
I was reading about your peppers, and I wanted to mention that I used to have a much bigger garden when I lived in Bellingham… Originally, I am from New Orleans, and I kind of have a love affair for all things pepper, lol… and it kind of made me sad that they didn’t grow in Bellingham like they did back home, so I experimented with using those old 12×12 mirror tiles that were so popular in the 70′s under and behind them to get more light to them, and I’ll be darned if it didn’t work to get my peppers growing much bigger and spicier… Just thought I would pass it along… It also looks enchanting to have candles glowing in the garden at night reflecting off of them…. Happy gardening…. Let me know if you ever give away more plants… Bonnie
Ah – yes my husband’s family are from Texas and Louisiana – he makes hot sauce with all my peppers. I will try the mirrors as I have not done as well at this location. Although there was a great post on DigginFood.com (I think) about her “pepper palaces” to grow them more and longer. I tend to have plants for free in spring. Thanks for the info!!
